This could be either a Page Turner or a Letter opener, your choice. This is a brass bladed instrument with a 9" blade and a 12" grip from the horn of a Goat, which the regiment kept, but did not label a "mascot". It was simply a "regimental goat" and the tradition dated back to at least 1775, and possibly to the regiment's formation. The goat was always named 'Billy'. It is engraved on the blade : Presented to THE ROYAL
