Complete with its steel Nickel plated scabbard, this example is considered a "Parade Sword", the sword itself also completely nickel plated on every steel surface. In combat the guard was often plated green or brown so as not to reflect the light and a brown scabbard was used for the same reason. The Pattern of 1908 Sword was part of the basis for the U. S. "Patton Saber", and this is an "Other Ranks" version, worn
