We tend to think it is in fact a French Naval Midshipman's short sword, in that Napoleon's wars with Austria produced all types of Austro Hungarian captured weapons, which could be the source of this wonderful blade. The blade measures 18 1 2" in length is curved and engraved on both side with very typical engravings
