This is a nice example of an Original WWII Japanese Officers Private Purchase Canteen. This was likely brought home by an American GI as a war trophy from the South Pacific. These private purchase canteens were used by officers of all branches of the Japanese Armed Forces during WWII. It features an aluminum body with a removable small drinking cup which secures to the top. Under the cup, an aluminum topped cork
