This is a fantastic excellent condition butt stock from the Civil War Sharps New Model 1859 Military Rifle, one of the later "vertical breech" designs. These were used extensively during the civil war, though the Carbine was definitely more popular than the rifle. The butt stock still has the correct butt plate, inlet for a patch box, however all other hardware is missing except for the cross pin escutcheon. We can
