This is an extremely rare excellent example of a practice training M1916, M16, or Stielhandgranate 16 ("stalk stick hand grenade") German Stick Grenade, often called a "potato masher". They are officially termed bungs Stielhandgranate, which literally means Exercise Stick Hand Grenade. This grenade is completely inert as specified by the BATF, and cannot be converted to an explosive device. It stands 14 inches tall
