This is a lovely percussion vest pistol, featuring an octagonal rifled "turn off" barrel and a lovely "bag" shaped checkered wooden grip. The pistol was made in Lige, Belgium, almost certainly for the European and American export markets. In this case it has had a somewhat crude PHILAD. A marked on two of the barrel facets, so we assume it was sold by a retailer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. These were quite popular
