This just came out of the attic after a hundred years of storage, together with a couple of hundred other guns. It has been cleaned to present as a very nice example of a post war "Half Stocked" conversion of a Civil War Era Springfield Model 1842 musket. The US Model 1842 Muskets was a . 69 caliber musket manufactured and used in the United States during the 19th Century. It was a continuation of the Model 1816 line
