Sergeant John Saglett ASN 48422 was born June 14th, 1889 in Sopron Me, Kaupvar, Hungary to John Sr. and Rose Szaglett. The youngest of three children, his mother died of tuberculosis shorty after he was born, and was raised by his eldest sister who was only 8 years old at the time. In 1905 they made their way to America, where John worked in the Pennsylvania coal mines until the family moved to South Bend, Indiana.
