This is a nice example of the line musket of the day and still retains its original markings so often removed when sold off into private service

Overall condition is very good to excellent with faint fold lines and minor tearing at lower left corner

This particular example is a Pattern 1756 Long Land Flintlock Musket with a 46" Barrel and regulation brass mounts

Seems amazing now that small Whaling ships would leave New England ports to hunt massive whales, and were able to return. They sailed with purpose of harvesting huge quantities of OIL, which was rendered from the whales blubber after they were killed. This was mostly used to fuel lanterns for light, as well as lubrication, soap, margarine, etc. Industry had yet to strike the "black gold" of petroleum, so as the
