This is an early type of color photograph of a bearded British Naval Officer sitting holding his sword, along with his named telescope. The background is that Captain Cuthbert Robert Buckle was the master of H. M. S. CRACKER, and he retired a Commander in 1875. After his service he sailed commercial vessels to South America from Liverpool. The brass framed photograph, probably hand colored, measures 6 1 2" tall by 5"
