Constructed of cotton canvas, in a similar weight as the IJA summer uniforms, these coveralls were intended to be worn over the standard issue service uniform in order to protect the wearers uniform from being dirty with the grime and grease of working on an armored vehicle, or getting their two piece uniform snagged on the many sharp
