DRAKE 32677380 scratched in on one side, and IWO JIMA 2 19 45 on the other. A cursory search of the serial number found one Pvt. Merton C. Drake, originally from Binghamton, N. Y.. He enlisted in 1942 and is listed with a civilian occupation of "Skilled mechanics and repairmen, n.
