This is a well worn Union cavalry uniform jacket, also referred to as a shell jacket, in very good condition with a set of NCO shoulder boards. This type of jacket was worn by countless Federal horse soldiers before and during the Civil War. The only major issue is a large tear in the back seam due to loss of stitching, but thankfully this is only visible from the back. The shell jacket became regulation for the US
