This is a very nice example of a German Model 40 Steel helmet, which we assume was issued to the Heer Army, but then saw a lot of service and wear during the war. We can see evidence of past oxidation to the interior and exterior of the shell, and it was then repainted a very dark gray blue color with a brush.
